Reported revenue: 400 · Actual revenue: 100 · Gap: €300

In peak week, almost nothing a causal measurement tells you can be acted on, because the window is too short for an estimate to stabilise and too busy for a structural change. Posting more during peak is a reflex worth resisting.

What is actually actionable in the window

UpdateActionable?Why
Data pipeline brokeYes, immediatelyYou lose the post-window read otherwise
Coverage dropped sharplyYesSomething in collection changed and it is fixable now
A causal estimate movedNoThe window is too short to interpret
Reported ROAS spikedNoExpected, and most distorted during peak

The first two are operational and belong in a channel. The last two are noise dressed as news, and posting them trains everyone to ignore the first two.

Why the estimates cannot help you in-window

A causal estimate needs enough data for the comparison to resolve, and a few days of unusual trading is not that. Worse, peak conditions inflate reported figures for structural reasons: elevated intent, higher frequency and therefore more overlap, and discount-driven pull-forward counted as new revenue. The mechanism is in why the reported and causal gap widens at peak.

Reacting to an in-window number is reacting to the distortion.

What to switch off

Turn off any scheduled causal update for the duration and say so in the channel, with the date it comes back. An announced pause reads as discipline. An unannounced one reads as a broken job, and someone will spend an hour investigating.

What to switch on

A single operational alert: did the export or ingestion job complete. That is the one failure that cannot be repaired afterwards, because the granular data behind the window can expire before you get to it. The retention constraint is in the two-month retention trap.

The post that matters

The post-window read, in the two weeks after the window closes. That is the highest-value measurement of the year, because budget moved enough during peak to separate channels more sharply than an ordinary month allows. Schedule it now, with the definitions frozen before the window opened.

The full calendar is in Black Friday measurement deadlines and the post-window mechanics in when the attribution window closes.

Tooling, plainly

There is no native Slack app. Developer API keys and an MCP server on Pro at €299 a month are the routes for anything automated; below that, the €99 one-time read on a Google Analytics export produces the table and you post it yourself. Refundable if it does not move a budget decision.

The single sentence to put in the channel before the window

Causal updates are paused until the window closes, the pipeline alert stays on, and the post-window read lands on a named date. Everyone then knows what silence means.
