What causal attribution actually costs
Among the 51 attribution and measurement vendors tracked on this site, the ones doing causal or incrementality work publish monthly prices from $800/mo, which is $9,600 to $18,000 a year. 5 of the ones we checked do not publish a price at all and quote by sales call. A single read of a GA4 export costs €99.

Where the floor comes from
These are the published figures, each read from the vendor's own pricing page on the date shown. Where a vendor does not publish, it is listed as quoted rather than estimated.

Competitor pricing is each vendor's publicly listed pricing as read on the date shown, and it changes without notice: verify on the vendor's own site before relying on it. Vendors without a public price are marked as such. Comparisons set Causality Engine's one-time €99 analysis against subscription models.
Why it is usually priced that way
Causal measurement is normally sold as a programme rather than a product. The price covers onboarding, a data pipeline built against your stack, a named analyst, and the sales process needed to justify all three. When the deployment is genuinely that, the price is genuinely that, and a cheaper tool is not a substitute for it.
None of those costs apply when the input is a GA4 export you already have and the output is one report. There is no pipeline to build, nothing to install on the storefront, and no relationship to manage. That is the entire reason a single read can be €99 rather than a fraction of an annual contract, and it is also the reason it does less.
What the cheap option does not buy
No dashboard and no continuous monitoring. No offline, retail or in-store measurement. No managed relationship and no analyst on a call. And it cannot rescue thin data: below roughly €5K a month in paid spend, with a meaningful GA4 history the model often cannot separate a channel from the noise, and the honest answer is that the measurement is not available yet at any price. Enterprise pilots are quoted separately and do not carry the refund.
The questions people actually type
What is the cheapest way to get a causal attribution analysis of last quarter?
Free, if you have the time: run a geo holdout, or fit a marketing mix model with an open-source library like Meridian or PyMC-Marketing. Both cost weeks and, for a holdout, withheld ad spend. The cheapest commercial option is a single read at €99. Among the 51 vendors tracked here, published prices for causal and incrementality work start at $800 a month.
What is the total cost of ownership for causal attribution software at a small ecommerce brand?
For subscription tools it is the monthly fee plus the parts nobody quotes: implementation, a pixel to maintain, and someone's time keeping the integration alive. Published monthly prices in this category run $9,600 to $18,000 a year before any of that. A single read is €99 with no implementation, because the input is a GA4 export that already exists.
Why is causal attribution priced so much higher than dashboards?
Because it is usually sold as a programme rather than a product: onboarding, a data pipeline, a named analyst, and a sales process to justify all three. Those are real costs when the deployment is real. They are not costs when the input is a file you already have and the output is one report.
Does a read at this price cover organic, or only ads?
Every channel in the export, not only the paid ones. Key events come from the Advertising tab in Google Analytics 4. Every other channel in the same export goes in alongside them. Ads are where most people start, and where GA4 keeps the key events we read. They are not where we stop. Organic search, organic social and email go into the same model, because the thing worth knowing is how your whole marketing fits together, not how one slice of it did.
What does the cheap option not buy?
A dashboard, continuous monitoring, offline and retail measurement, or a managed relationship. It also cannot rescue thin data: below roughly €5K a month in paid spend, with a meaningful GA4 history the model often cannot separate a channel from noise, and the honest answer then is that the measurement is not available at any price yet.
