The shortlist
Before you pay for a tool, add up the purchases Meta, Google and TikTok each claimed last week and compare the total with your Shopify orders: any overshoot is the same sales claimed more than once, and its size tells you what an independent read is worth. The tools below check Meta three ways: multi-touch attribution from a pixel (Triple Whale, Northbeam), first-party and server-side click tracking (AdBeacon, Cometly, Hyros), or a causal read of the GA4 export you already have, from a causal attribution tool like Causality Engine.
| Tool | Starting price | Built for |
|---|---|---|
| Triple Whale | See the vendor's pricing page | Shopify brands at scale wanting a unified dashboard |
| Northbeam | $1,500/mo (northbeam.io/pricing, as read on 2026-09-08) | DTC brands scaling paid media, from Shopify Starter up to enterprise |
| Hyros | From $230/mo, by tracked revenue (hyros.com, read 2026-10-01) | High-ticket products and info products |
| AdBeacon | From $299/mo (adbeacon.com/pricing, as read on 2026-09-08) | DTC brands wanting first-party click tracking |
| Cometly | Usage-based and quoted on a call (cometly.com/pricing, as read on 2026-09-08); a typical Core signup is $750/month (Cometly's affiliate page, as read on 2026-09-26) | B2B SaaS teams (Stripe- and CRM-native), not primarily ecommerce |
| Causality Engine | €99 one-time, or €299/mo | Causal inference on a GA4 export, no pixel and no code |

Best Meta Ads Attribution Tools for Shopify Brands
Each tool here approaches marketing attribution from different data. The pixel and click-tracking tools add their own tracking to your store, and browser privacy controls limit what a pixel can observe. A causal read runs causal inference on what GA4 already recorded: nothing to install, and it sees channel groups rather than campaigns.
Why Most Meta Ads Attribution is Flawed
Most attribution tools, including Meta's own, rely on correlation-based models. They look at which channels a user touched before converting and assign credit based on rules like last-click or multi-touch. The problem? Correlation is not causation. A user might click on a Facebook ad, then a Google ad, then convert through a direct link. A rule-based model will split the credit, but it won't tell you which touchpoint caused the conversion.
Causal attribution asks a different question: what would have happened without the channel? It estimates what each channel caused from that counterfactual instead of splitting credit by rule. The version that costs nothing is a test: hold out one region for two weeks and compare its revenue with the rest, or run Meta's Conversion Lift.
Comparison of Meta Ads Attribution Tools
| Tool | Methodology | Key Features | Pricing | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Causality Engine | causal inference | What each channel caused next to last-click, Direct split back to the channels that sent those buyers, a data-health score and a next step per channel | €99 one-time analysis or €299/month | A causal read of every channel in your GA4 export, Paid Social included; not campaign-, creative- or audience-level. |
| Meta Ads Manager (native) | Self-attributing, 7-day click + 1-day view default | In-platform reporting, view-through counted, no deduplication against other platforms | Free (folded into ad spend) | In-platform signal for creative and audience decisions; not an independent read. |
Where Causality Engine Fits for Shopify Brands
Causality Engine shows what each channel caused, with Direct split back to the channels that sent those buyers. Meta traffic tagged as paid lands in GA4's Paid Social channel, so that's the level you see, not individual campaigns, creatives or audiences.
Each channel gets a data-health score and a next step, with how to test it: raise or cut spend a little in one region, then compare revenue; hold; or fix UTM tagging first when revenue sits in Unassigned. Last-click is rebuilt from your own GA4 export beside the engine: within 25% the two agree, and under 1% on both is too small to act on.
It takes a GA4 export. It doesn't connect to Meta, Google or TikTok today, and it takes no spend data, so it reports no ROAS.
Rule of thumb: a dashboard tells you where buyers came from; only a test or a causal read gets at what the ads caused. Pick the tool for the question you actually have.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best attribution model for Meta Ads?
One that estimates what Meta caused instead of splitting credit by rule, which in practice means a holdout test or a causal model. Last-click, first-click and multi-touch all divide credit among the touches they can see, and none asks whether the sale would have happened without the ad.How can I improve my Meta Ads attribution?
Start with a check that costs nothing: add up the purchases Meta, Google and TikTok each claimed last week and compare the total with your Shopify orders. Then fix UTM tagging so paid Meta traffic lands in GA4's Paid Social, and test the channel with a two-week regional holdout or Meta's Conversion Lift before you move budget. Is Meta's native attribution accurate?
Meta is the network scoring its own ads: its default window is 7-day click plus 1-day view, view-through is counted, and it does not deduplicate against Google or TikTok.

- Causal AnalysisCausal Analysis identifies true cause-and-effect relationships in data, moving beyond correlation to show how marketing actions directly impact outcomes.
- Causal AttributionCausal Attribution uses causal inference to determine which marketing touchpoints genuinely cause conversions, not just correlate with them.
- Causal InferenceCausal inference is the set of methods for estimating how much an outcome changes because of a cause, rather than alongside it. It works by comparing what happened with an estimate of what would have happened without the cause.
- CorrelationCorrelation is a statistical measure showing a relationship between variables; it does not imply causation.
- CounterfactualA counterfactual is what would have happened under conditions that did not occur, such as a customer's outcome had they not received the campaign they did receive. It is never observed, so every effect estimate has to stand in for it with a control group, comparable units or a forecast.
- Marketing AttributionMarketing attribution assigns credit to marketing touchpoints that contribute to a conversion or sale. Causal inference enhances attribution models by identifying true cause-effect relationships.
- Multi-Touch AttributionMulti-Touch Attribution assigns credit to multiple marketing touchpoints across the customer journey. It provides a complete view of channel impact on conversions.
