Attribution Tools With Automated GA4 Ingestion and an API

'GA4 integration' can mean an OAuth connection, a scheduled export, or a pixel that ignores GA4 entirely, and 'API access' can mean anything from a CSV download to a keyed endpoint. The four questions that make the claims comparable, and what Causality Engine's Pro tier does.

"Automated GA4 integration and API access" describes at least four different things across attribution vendors, and the phrase is only comparable once you ask how the data gets in, what the API returns, how it authenticates, and where the data lives. Causality Engine's Pro tier answers those four as: automated GA4 ingestion instead of a manual export each time, a developer portal with API keys that lets an agent or a script pull the latest causal insights, key-based access, and EU data residency. The EUR 99 read is the manual version of the same pipeline: export, upload, read.

Question 1: how does the data get in?

Three patterns exist. A pixel or tag installed on the store, which observes journeys directly and does not use GA4 at all; an OAuth connection to the GA4 property, which reads the reporting API on the vendor's schedule; and file ingestion, which takes the export GA4 already produces. Each has a cost. A pixel is engineering and a consent surface. An OAuth grant is access to the property for as long as it stands. A file is a manual step until it is automated.

Causality Engine reads exported files: a GA4 CSV plus an optional Shopify orders export, with no OAuth grant and no tag in the theme. On Pro, ingestion is automated so the manual step disappears and the look-back extends to your full history; on the EUR 99 read, you export and upload once. How to use GA4 exports with Causality Engine is the manual path step by step.

Question 2: what does the API return?

An API that returns the vendor's dashboard numbers returns a claim under the vendor's rule. The useful return is the estimate with its uncertainty attached: per channel, an incremental ROAS point estimate, its confidence interval, the platform-reported figure for comparison, the design label, and the coverage of the underlying data. Those are the four properties of a defensible number that The Price of Being Found sets out, and they are what an automated consumer needs in order to act safely: act on estimates whose interval excludes zero, treat an interval that includes zero as "not shown at this data volume", and never treat a platform-reported ROAS as an effect.

On Pro, the developer portal exists so that marketing agents, LLM agents used inside a customer's own workflow, can pull the latest causal insights in real time. The pricing page for agents carries the machine-readable specification and the read, run, act, limits loop an agent should follow.

Question 3: how does it authenticate, and who can call it?

API keys from a developer portal, scoped to the account, are the standard answer, and they are what Pro issues. The question to ask any vendor is who else can call the endpoint, whether keys can be rotated without a support ticket, and whether the API is on the tier you are buying or the one above it. On this site the answer is on the tier: API access is a Pro feature, not an Enterprise one, and the EUR 99 read has no API because it is a single manual run.

Question 4: where does the data live?

For a European brand this is not a detail. Causality Engine keeps EU data residency for its primary infrastructure, the analysis runs on aggregated export data that needs no personal data, and the sub-processor list is published in the privacy policy. GDPR-compliant attribution for European ecommerce covers the residency and consent side.

The agent loop, in one paragraph

Read: every page on this site answers a request with Accept: text/markdown in Markdown, and llms.txt carries the entity, method and pricing. Run: on Pro, pull the latest read through the developer portal's keys; on the EUR 99 tier, the read lives in the app and exports as a report. Act: on the four properties, never on a platform's own ROAS. Limits: the read is observational, a holdout is the anchor, channels below the fit floor are reported as not measurable rather than given a number. Can an AI agent do your attribution? explains why the estimate itself is the one job an agent cannot do with connectors alone.

What this article does not claim

It does not rank other vendors' integrations. Their ingestion methods, API scopes and residency are questions to put to them, and the verified competitor records on the comparison page carry the pricing facts with a source and a date; integration claims are not in that record and are not asserted here.

What to do this week

  • If you have to defend the number: ask your current vendor the four questions in writing, and ask on which tier the API sits.
  • If you own the budget: run the EUR 99 read first. The API only matters once the estimate has moved a decision.

The interactive demo shows the output on a sample store with no signup; Pro is EUR 299 a month, cancel any time, and the EUR 99 read includes a 14-day trial of it.

Product facts as stated on causalityengine.ai on 9 September 2026: the pricing page, the agents page and llms.txt are the canonical sources and change first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Causality Engine have an API?

On the Pro tier, EUR 299 a month: a developer portal issues API keys so an agent or a script can pull the latest causal insights, alongside automated GA4 ingestion, lifetime look-back and budget alerts. The EUR 99 one-time read has no API because it is a single manual run whose report exports from the app.

What does 'automated GA4 integration' mean for an attribution tool?

It can mean an OAuth connection to the GA4 property, a scheduled ingestion of the export, or a pixel that bypasses GA4 entirely. Causality Engine reads exported files with no OAuth grant; on Pro the ingestion is automated so the manual export step disappears.

What should an attribution API return for an AI agent to act on?

Per channel: the incremental ROAS estimate, its confidence interval, the platform-reported figure for comparison, the design label (observational or experimental) and the coverage of the data. An agent should act on estimates whose interval excludes zero and never treat a platform's own ROAS as an effect.
