You already own three things that combine into a defensible view of your marketing, and none of them requires a hire. Most founders use one of the three.

The three

AssetWhat it is good forWhere it sits
Your order tableThe total nobody else can reviseYour store admin
Your analytics exportA reproducible record of where visits came fromYour analytics account
Your own decision logWhy you did what you did, and whenA document you keep

The order table is the anchor

It exists because money moved. It does not degrade with consent refusal, ad blockers or a platform changing its rules, and it is the same number your accountant uses. Any marketing report anchored to it starts with a denominator finance already trusts.

The simplest use of it is the claim ratio: sum what every ad platform says it caused for one window, divide by what you actually took. Above one is expected and the size is informative. Twenty minutes, no tooling, described in the claim ratio.

The analytics export is the reproducible part

Whatever tool you use now or later, an export of a past window can be read again. That is what makes it a foundation rather than a dependency: leaving a vendor costs you the vendor, not your history. The argument in full is you do not own your attribution data.

It is also why nothing needs to be installed on your site to get a causal read. The €99 one-time read here runs on that export, refundable if it does not move a budget decision, and adds no tag, cookie or identifier to your store.

The decision log is the one nobody keeps

One line per decision: what you decided, the number it rested on, the range around that number, and the date. It takes two minutes and it is the only way to find out later whether your judgement was any good.

A year of those lines lets you run the review that actually improves a marketing team: which channels did we scale, did revenue follow, which did we cut, did anything change. The template is in keeping the attribution record in your own workspace.

What a data hire would add

Genuinely useful things, none of them prerequisites: warehouse modelling, deeper experiment design, and the capacity to build things you cannot buy. What a hire does not add is the ability to ask the four questions in the section above, which you can do today.

Putting it together

Anchor on the order table, use the export for the causal read, and keep the log. That is a defensible view of your marketing, produced by one person, with no engineering and no standing commitment.

The interactive demo shows what the middle piece produces, with no signup, and how it works explains the method in plain language.
