Causality Engine vs Fairing and KnoCommerce: at a glance
Short answer: Fairing uses post-purchase attribution surveys and KnoCommerce uses post-purchase surveys. Causality Engine is compatible with all of them: it installs nothing and reads the GA4 export you already have, so it adds a read of what each channel caused on top of whichever you keep, for €99.

Causality Engine installs nothing on your site. It reads the GA4 export you already have, so it runs on top of any tool here without touching its setup. The one condition: GA4 runs on your store too. “Not stated” means we could not find it on the vendor's own pages or listings on 12 October 2026; it does not mean the feature is missing.

The Problem with Best Post Purchase Survey Alternative
Where Correlation-Based Models Fail
Let's represent this with a simple formula. A traditional model might calculate ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) as:
ROAS = Total Revenue / Total Ad Spend
This is a simplistic view. It assumes all revenue from a channel is a direct result of ad spend in that channel. It ignores the complex interplay of brand equity, market trends, and, most importantly, the customer's inherent intent. A more accurate representation of impact would be:
Incremental Revenue = Total Revenue - Baseline Revenue
Where Baseline Revenue is the revenue you would have generated without any marketing activity. The goal of marketing is to increase Incremental Revenue, not just to be associated with Total Revenue.
Enter Causality Engine: Causal Inference
Causality Engine uses causal inference on the GA4 history you already have to estimate what each channel caused.
| Feature | Traditional Attribution | Causality Engine |
|---|---|---|
| Core Method | Correlation (Rule-based) | Causal Inference |
| Measures | Associations | Incremental Lift |
| Accuracy | Low (often misleading) | High (data-driven) |

A Modern Alternative for a Complex World
The digital marketing landscape of 2026 is too complex for simple attribution models. Privacy changes, walled gardens, and the proliferation of channels mean you need a more sophisticated approach.

No. While MTA tools try to assign credit across multiple touchpoints, they are still based on arbitrary rules and correlations. How long does it take to get results?
Results arrive 1 to 2 minutes after the upload, and there is no pixel and no SDK to install.

- Attribution ModelAn Attribution Model defines how credit for conversions is assigned to marketing touchpoints. It dictates how marketing channels receive credit for sales.
- Causal InferenceCausal inference is the set of methods for estimating how much an outcome changes because of a cause, rather than alongside it. It works by comparing what happened with an estimate of what would have happened without the cause.
- Digital MarketingDigital Marketing uses electronic devices or the internet for marketing efforts. This includes search engines, social media, email, and websites.
- IncrementalityIncrementality is the part of an outcome, such as orders or revenue, that a marketing activity caused: the extra results compared with what would have happened without it. It is a causal effect, not the number of conversions credited to a channel.
- Incrementality TestingIncrementality Testing measures the additional impact of a marketing campaign. It compares exposed and control groups to determine causal effect.
- Marketing MixThe marketing mix is the set of actions a company uses to promote its brand or product. It traditionally includes product, price, place, and promotion.
