What instant channel diagnosis can and cannot do
Two things about a weak channel are genuinely instant. One takes an afternoon and one takes weeks. Confusing the four is how brands cut confidently and wrongly.
Three platforms, three answers, one budget to defend. Your GA4 export already holds the answer, and the first finding is free and never leaves your browser. Get your first finding free

Two things about a weak channel are genuinely instant. One takes weeks.
The four speeds
| Question | Speed | Instrument |
|---|---|---|
| Is spend pacing above plan? | Instant | Your ad accounts |
| Is this channel genuinely not working? | Weeks | A holdout test |
What is genuinely instant
Pacing. If a channel is spending faster than planned, you can see that now and act on it now, because it is a count of something that happened.
Nothing about causation is instant, because causation is a comparison against something that did not happen, and constructing that comparison takes data over time. A tool promising an instant verdict on whether a channel works is promising something the question does not admit.
The twenty-minute check that is close to instant
Sum what every ad platform claims it caused for one window, divide by what your store actually took. Above one is expected, because platforms count conversions they touched and touches overlap. Method in the claim ratio.
The afternoon
The read is €99 once on a Google Analytics export, refundable within 30 days, no questions asked.
The weeks
A geo holdout is the only instrument that settles it, because it constructs the comparison deliberately. It costs the revenue forgone in the held-out group and it takes weeks, which is why you run one, on the channel with the most at stake, rather than on everything.
Why the impatience is dangerous here
Because a channel cut on an unresolved estimate is a channel cut on nothing, and the revenue decline shows up later attributed to something else. The full cost is in the cost of cutting the wrong channel.
The honest sequence
Check pacing today. Run the claim ratio this week. Take the read this month. Test the biggest contested channel this quarter. Each step narrows the field for the next, and the whole sequence costs less than one wrong cut.
