Agent-ready attribution before the next planning cycle
Planning cycles reward whoever can produce a defensible number quickly. What to have wired before the cycle starts, and what genuinely is not worth rushing.
Three platforms, three answers, one budget to defend. Your GA4 export already holds the answer, and the first finding is free and never leaves your browser. Get your first finding free

Planning cycles reward whoever can produce a defensible number quickly, and quickly means the plumbing existed beforehand. Three things are worth having in place; two are not worth rushing.
Worth having before the cycle
| Item | Why now |
|---|---|
| A read on a window with real spend variation | You cannot manufacture variation retroactively |
| Frozen definitions, dated | Mid-cycle changes make comparisons useless |
| Structured output where the agent can reach it | Assembling by hand during planning does not happen |
The first has a hard constraint attached: your analytics retention setting governs how far back detail remains queryable, and it expires quietly. Check it before you plan a window rather than after, as covered in the two-month retention trap.
Not worth rushing
A new integration built during the cycle. Integration work under time pressure produces a pipeline nobody trusts, and an untrusted pipeline is worse than a manual export.
And a method change. Changing the instrument during planning means nobody can separate a change in the numbers from a change in the measurement, which is the one confusion that lasts.
The minimum that is genuinely fast
Causality Engine reads one file, the Attribution paths export from GA4, and shows what each channel caused next to what last-click gave it. No install, no contract, and the output is a structured file an agent can consume immediately.
That is enough to bring a defensible number into a planning meeting without any pipeline at all.
What the agent adds during planning
Speed on the repetitive parts: summarising the read, comparing against the previous cycle, drafting the memo in the same structure as last time. What it does not add is the decision, and the two policies that keep it honest are in exporting machine-readable attribution for an agent.
The agent-facing surface is on for AI assistants.
The order if you have two weeks
Check retention. Freeze definitions. Take the read. Write the memo yourself the first time so you know what good looks like. Only then wire an agent to it.
The honest note on urgency
The only real deadline here is retention, which expires on its own schedule and takes the window with it. Everything else can be built after the cycle, and building it during is how teams end up with a pipeline nobody trusts.

Frequently asked questions
What should be in place before a planning cycle?
A read on a window with real spend variation, frozen and dated definitions, and structured output somewhere an agent can reach it. The first depends on your analytics retention setting, which expires quietly and cannot be recovered.Should I build an integration during planning?
No. Integration work under time pressure produces a pipeline nobody trusts, and an untrusted pipeline is worse than a manual export. The same applies to changing measurement method mid-cycle.What is the fastest defensible option?
Causality Engine reads one file, the Attribution paths export from GA4, and shows what each channel caused next to what last-click gave it. No install, no contract, and it is consumable by an agent immediately.
